Gerardus Cornielje Baron von Sachsen is a Dutch poet, musician, and visual artist who weaves his multicultural experiences into vibrant mixed media and digital works. He blends digital painting with bold analog materials, acrylic, ink, charcoal, and found objects, channeling abstract, expressionist, and urban styles infused with improvisational musicality. His art seeks to evoke deep reflection, longing, wonder, and the complex rhythms of the human spirit, resonating with the beauty and fragility of existence. As an author, Gerard has published more than thirty books in Dutch, German and English. His best-known work, Duende, is an ambitious poetic exploration of Spain's soul, history and cultural identity, inspired by the concept made famous by Federico García Lorca. Built around a series of heroic crowns, the book examines the forces of passion, tragedy, beauty and mystery that continue to shape the human experience. These themes echo throughout Gerard's visual art as well.
