Michal Ožana pursued art from an early age, growing up in a loud and spirited family where finding a moment of peace was no easy task.
This was the main reason he began escaping into the world of canvases and colors. Even in his youth, he demonstrated his talent by winning national competitions with his work.
In later years, while going through a difficult period filled with anxiety and inner turmoil, he returned to the brush with a renewed passion. Through it, he channeled an urgent need to express himself and reveal his feelings to the world.
I’ve always seen my art as a way to find quiet in the midst of intensity. It means a lot to me that curator Elisa Pritzker captured this so
perfectly when she wrote:
'A practice that does not polish its edges, but lets intensity, conflict, and personal history sit directly on the surface. It creates a visual world shaped by introspection and the ongoing effort to rise above one’s own shadows.'
