About this artwork
Myth & Origin
As one of the oldest vertebrates (220 million years old), turtles carry the knowledge of the world within them.
Cosmos & Transience
The four bright turtles are aligned according to the four cardinal directions: they embody the cosmic sense of orientation.
The transparent shell reveals the paradox of their existence: a living shield that simultaneously exposes the deep vulnerability of these creatures.
The structure of… the shell: sometimes rough like wood, sometimes delicate like parchment - tells of scars, of growth, of long life and slow aging.
It is a close-up showing the tank as a habitat -
It focuses on the beauty, but also the vulnerability of ancient beings that seemed to be made for eternity.

The artist name AilenRok arose from the desire to create a neutral space for contemplation. My work is meant to speak for itself – the person behind it deliberately recedes into the background. I have extensive experience in arts and crafts as well as design, and I create structures and ornaments with artistic precision. The interplay of color and light, as well as a palpable depth, are central to my work. My pieces unite the inner and outer worlds, convey a deep connection with nature, and touch the viewer with their quiet, emotional power – they make visible the delicate, often overlooked threads of human existence.
