About this artwork
This painting was inspired by the legendary love of Romeo and Juliet — a love so intense, so forbidden, that even a kiss becomes an act of rebellion, of surrender, of destiny. I imagined their lips meeting not just in affection, but in desperation — as if they were trying to hold on to each other against time, fate, and the world. I hope the viewer feels the tension between passion and tragedy. The kiss is tender, yet urgent — soft, yet burning.…
I chose acrylic paints and a textured impasto technique to give the kiss physical presence — the brushstrokes are layered like emotions, thick and expressive. The close-up of the lips erases identity; it’s not about faces or names, but about the universal intensity of a kiss between soulmates. The palette of reds, pinks, and purples evokes both passion and tenderness, while the cropped composition intensifies the intimacy. The style bridges realism and abstraction, mirroring the blurred line between dream and reality in their story.
