About this artwork
In this work, I captured the depth and history of the Orient using charcoal and chalk. The faces tell stories of pain, wisdom, and life, while the architectural elements symbolize cultural diversity. Annachrista Kroll-Buchholz is a glass painter and mosaic artist trained in the 1950s and 60s, having studied at renowned art academies and schools in Stuttgart and Krefeld. Since 1966, she has worked as a freelance artist in her KB studio. She utilizes a variety of techniques, including oil painting, watercolor, pastel, sketching, glass and metal sculpture, mosaics, and leaded glass, with painting, drawing, and sketching taking center stage since 2009. Her style combines the depiction of nature and people, moods, and socio-critical themes. Her works often reveal a profound inner landscape and encourage viewers to reflect and be moved by them.
