About this artwork
Overslept Again returns to the visual language of Overslept, expanding it into a larger and more densely layered composition. Sweeping passages of yellow move across an underlying network of blue, turquoise, pink, red, white and black, alternately concealing and revealing the gestures beneath.
A dark central form anchors the composition as curved strokes, sharp lines and exposed fragments move outward toward the edges. Areas of apparent order repeatedly… emerge from the surrounding activity before being interrupted or absorbed again.
Rather than reproducing Overslept, Overslept Again revisits the same visual impulse through greater density, layering and scale.

Anthony Cerrato is a self-taught abstract painter from New Jersey who works primarily with acrylic on canvas. His paintings combine spontaneous, sweeping gestures with structured linear frameworks, creating a dynamic interplay between expressive brushwork and architectural form. Through improvisational layering and bold divisions of space, his work explores the tension between instinct and structure, where movement gradually resolves into balance. Cerrato's paintings have been featured in international exhibitions, including The Breath of Kindness at the Castillo Fortaleza (Museum of the Sea) in Santa Pola, Spain. His work invites viewers to experience the moment where chaos begins to organize itself into form.
