About this artwork
Oil painting and pencil on grisaille from photography on canvas.
View of the Térmica del Besós, an imposing building north of Barcelona.
Every artist must have a commitment and this can become a narrative, a language that provides solidity to their work and a line of research that contributes ideas to the arts.
The difficult balance between nature and human beings generates a lot of uncertainty in me and therefore, I try to develop this theme… in my artistic work. I prefer to do it in an optimistic way, generating excitement and having beauty as a goal in the creation of images.
The symbiosis between nature and the city is my area of work, nature tries to recover the space that always belonged to it.
The fact that the result is very descriptive with this photographic realism always adds more risks since the image is shown in its entirety.
In this changing world with so many natural imbalances, we must be committed to nature.

Carlos Arriaga, photographer and painter, forges his art under the protection of a pictorial lineage. He uses mixed techniques, printing photographs on textured canvases and then intervening on them with oil, in a dance of grisaille and glazes that invites contemplation and reflection on the changing relationship between the city and nature. His works, ethereal and full of dream, are a journey through urban landscapes that whisper stories of resilience and visual poetry.
