About this artwork
I painted a cat selling fish against a background of an iron gate in a gloomy atmosphere. The cat is holding a coin, as if communicating something. I was inspired by a painting by the French artist Bernard Buffet. That painting depicts a fishmonger with a fish stall, a background of an iron gate, and hooks hanging fish. I like that painting, so I took it to creatively express it as a painting in this piece.
