German painter Christin Lutze was born in Berlin in 1975, where she also lives and works today. She studied as a master student under Prof. Marwan at the University of the Arts in Berlin (1996-2002). In the same period, she completed studies abroad in Venice (1999) and Geneva (2001).
Fictional pictorial worlds
In her pictures, Christin Lutze creates imaginary spaces in which neither perspective nor architectural constructs could exist in this way. Lutze shifts perspective, distorts planes, deforms bars, or reduces distances. Nevertheless, her pictures are real, her rooms theoretically walkable. She designs her surreal pictorial spaces herself, without taking inspiration in already existing pictures.
