About this artwork
Energy 5 (top)
Energy 5 explores the tension between darkness and movement. Deep blue, violet and purple tones create an atmospheric space where textured forms emerge like fragments of an unknown landscape. Tissue paper creates the tactile structures beneath the acrylic paint, giving the surface an organic, rugged character. The work expresses a feeling of restrained energy, transformation and quiet intensity.
Energy 8 (bottom)
Energy 8 captures… the sensation of movement breaking through darkness. A luminous turquoise-blue form stretches across a deep indigo and violet background, suggesting water, a distant horizon or an unseen force in motion. Tissue paper creates the pronounced textures, while acrylic paint builds depth and contrast. Together with Energy 5, the work creates a visual dialogue between darkness, movement and transformation. Both paintings are mounted in an object frame measuring 43 × 33 × 3 cm.

Doreen Gehrke
Germany
Doreen Gehrke is a self-taught artist and geologist whose scientific background significantly influences her artistic work. Structures, strata, natural processes of formation, and the aesthetic language of the earth are reflected in many of her pieces. This combination of geological knowledge and intuitive painting technique forms the basis for her Emotional Landscapes – atmospheric, often abstract landscapes that depict inner states, moods, and memories rather than real places.
The pricing of her artwork is primarily based on the technical and time-related effort of the painting process, while the size of the work plays a secondary role. Further information can be found on the artist's website or on her social media profiles at @doreengehrkeart.
