About this artwork
Ile Cézembre, Fort du Petit Bé and Ilot de la Petite Conchée, a necklace of islands which shine under the beautiful light of September and protect the bay of Saint-Malo.
There is the large island of Cézembre and its beautiful white sand beach surrounded by its ocher cliffs.
There is the Fort du Petit Bé which seems sculpted in the rock and covers its little cove with golden sand.
Further offshore, there is the Petite Conchée island, which watches… over the sea like a sentinel.
All three seem to be resting on a liquid plain. Only the sandbanks or the shoals of rocks covered with shimmering seaweed outcrop at low tide, enhanced here and there by the discreet and immaculate foam of a quiet wavelet.
The drawing serving as the basis for the painting was made on Friday September 16, 2022 at 6 p.m. from the Môle des Noires.
