About this artwork
The Palais-Royal garden on the Beaujolais gallery side, resplendent in the spring sunshine.
Shapes, materials, proportions, colors give us one of the most beautiful urban concerts in Paris
The creamy-hued stone is illuminated with a thousand nuances enhanced by the deep shadows of the embrasures or delicate sculptures.
Large blinds and golden yellow curtains protect the high windows where the whimsical shadows of the small woods play.
The arcades,… each studded with a bronze lantern, bathe the shop windows in a cool, pinkish shade where clocks sparkle.
It is the south facade and through the narrow passage of the Perron, one can make out the rue Vivienne which gives this enclosed garden a discreet and luminous escape.
The drawing used as the basis for the painting was made in 1986.
Dry pastel on reconstituted wood panel
Temporary protective base and plexiglass, hanging ring

« My first artist's workshop was outdoors, on the beach and in sandcastles, at that age when everything is allowed and when one can work freely on shapes or colors. »
François Cusson is an experienced artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Austria. For him, there are a few extraordinary days throughout each year, "when the air is so pure, so crisp that everything is transformed: the contours are sharper, the colors more subtle, the world is brighter and more luminous". Such days inspire Cusson to capture those magic and fleeting moments.
