Günter Wideburg was born in Kaufbeuren in 1965. His numerous travels as an entrepreneur in product development gave him a perspective on the world that now fundamentally influences him as an artist, having trained at the Schraf Art School (Ravensburg). He lives and works in Weingarten on Lake Constance.
His works, mostly acrylic on canvas, are historical documents or commentaries that engage with societal problems. They involuntarily and with great urgency initiate a dialogue with the viewer. In doing so, they invite reflection and storytelling, which can be as diverse as the many figures in the paintings who seem to assume different social roles or, in their role-playing, point to specific societal injustices or underlying dangers.
