Suspension captures an almost imperceptible moment: the instant when a familiar gesture seems to pause between the impulse and its completion. The mouth, fragmented by the framing, becomes the site of a silent tension between automatism and consciousness.
Continuing the Repetition series and bordering on Between States, the work shifts the focus from the gesture itself to that intermediate space where the body is still acting, while consciousness… suddenly seems to observe it. The portrait is no longer simply a representation of the face, but an exploration of an inner state—fragile, transient, suspended.
