About this artwork
For the portrait of the conceptualist poet Lev Rubinstein, I worked in a multi-layered way, allowing the bristly texture of the oil painting to speak its own language in combination with the muted color background.
In this oil portrait, I attempted to capture the artist's quiet concentration and inner world. The subdued blue-gray, sienna, and mars tones, along with the graphic brushstrokes, reflect a thoughtfulness, but also a keen intellect and… idiosyncratic wit. This painting brings a calm, almost meditative energy to the room and invites the viewer to immerse themselves in a moment of solitude and self-reflection.
