The forest sings.
It whispers, murmurs, rumbles and growls, sometimes buzzes, sometimes purrs, resonates or chimes. It makes us perceive the blowing of the wind in the foliage and distinguish the refrains of the birds that populate it.
But if we linger, after dark, we are on the lookout, on the lookout for the hooting of a nocturnal bird of prey or the mournful howl of some lost wolf.
