About this artwork
Abstract Horizon at Night
Deep indigo tones dissolve the individual pictorial layers into one another, creating a sense of seamless transition. Everything appears to merge and flow together, until a delicate line emerges as a subtle boundary — while simultaneously creating a connection between the different planes.
The use of texture paste and acrylic medium gives the surface a vivid, relief-like quality. Varied textures and layers of colour create… movement, depth, and a palpable sense of dynamic tension.
The painting does not require a specific landscape or narrative context. It exists independently, remaining open to the individual perception and interpretation of the viewer. Between stillness and movement, separation and connection, a powerful, almost nocturnal energy unfolds.
The horizon is not conceived as a boundary, but as a point of transition — a quiet space between two realms where contrasts begin to merge.

Laura Bauer-Schnitzler works as a self-taught painter alongside her work as a psychotherapist, using acrylic and oil paints, pastels, texture pastes, marble dust, and gold leaf. She combines abstract techniques and diverse materials in an intuitive, experimental way. Her works are characterized by multi-layered structures, tranquil color palettes, and emotional depth. She creates spaces that mediate between the inner and outer worlds, aiming to touch the viewer with elegance, sensuality, and subtle movement—less representational than tangible and meditative, shaped by her own perception and emotional intuition.
