About this artwork
Magma is the title of the painting that opens the 'Earth's Heart' series, with which I invite you to reflect on the importance of the physicality of matter.
Magma was born from a profound experience of mine. It's not a work I planned rationally, but it emerged almost unconsciously upon my return from a short vacation on the island of Elba.
On a beach with light sand, I noticed a black stone with ochre, red, and gold spots, due to the presence… of iron, which that part of the island was rich in. Observing those beautiful stones, with their dark color and orange and gold accents, I imagined their history, their emergence from the center of the earth, millennia ago, thanks to the movements of the Earth's crust. Thus was born the Magma painting. And the idea of also giving its buyer one of the stones that inspired it.
