About this artwork
For my series "Places of Democracy" and the exhibition in the Orangerie of the Paris Senate in 2024, I was allowed to paint the historically very special building of the French Senate, both exterior and interior views.
The plenary hall was created at a time when France, following the French Revolution and Napoleon's reign under Louis Philippe I, was a constitutional monarchy. Its opulence—in stark contrast to the much later German Bundesrat—is a… testament to this era.
