About this artwork
Beneath the Canopy explores the hidden structures that exist beneath visible landscapes. Inspired by forest ecosystems, layers of earth, roots, and organic growth patterns, the work transforms textile into a tactile topography of movement and connection.
Hand-tufted yarn creates vertical streams of color that flow across the surface like roots searching through soil, pathways of energy, or traces of memory embedded in nature. Deep browns, warm ochres,… vibrant reds, and muted greens create a dynamic dialogue between growth and decay, permanence and transformation.
Rather than representing a specific place, the piece invites contemplation of the invisible networks that support life — the structures beneath the surface that often remain unseen yet shape everything above them.
