About this artwork
'Inhabited Silence' is a monumental work that explores the fullness of the invisible. María Martínez Araújo delves into the idea that silence is not absence, but a vibrant frequency charged with presence and order.
The piece is notable for its complex geometric construction, integrating 43 relief wooden elements that rhythmically orbit toward the center. This assemblage creates a shifting interplay of light and shadow, giving the work a life of… its own depending on the lighting of the space. The viewer is invited to immerse themselves in this hypnotic center, where geometry acts as a refuge for thought.
This work showcases the artist's mastery of relief and large format (90 cm), offering a serene and architectural visual experience. It is an investment piece designed to grace spacious areas, lending a sophistication based on balance and conceptual depth.
With over 25 years of experience in artistic research, María Martínez Araújo's work is an exercise in synthesis between geometric order and emotional impulse. Her artistic language was consolidated during her time as a social educator, where painting emerged not only as a tool for personal balance, but also as a profound exploration of the human need for structure and harmony. Initially influenced by the ornamental richness of Gustav Klimt, María has evolved toward a geometric abstraction centered on what she calls Frequencies: concentric structures that act as visual anchor points. Her work invites the viewer on a centripetal journey, starting from a vibrant core and moving toward a controlled expansion of color. Throughout his career, he has experimented with various media, notably his participation in institutional projects in the provinces of Valladolid and Huesca.
