About this artwork
CONCRETE DESERT is my exploration of urban space as an artificially created landscape. In the collage, I combine massive concrete structures, geometric fragments, and people into a multi-layered scene that oscillates between reality and fiction. By cutting up and rearranging architectural elements, a fragmented space emerges that defies conventional perspectives and opens up new viewpoints. The inserted human figures enliven the seemingly static…
environment and illustrate different forms of appropriation and use of the space. With CONCRETE DESERT, I examine the tension between urbanity and nature, order and fragmentation, and monumentality and human scale. The collage invites us to re-examine our perception of architecture and public space and to make visible the interactions between people, nature, and the city.
