About this artwork
I did this study to work out some of the details in the car for the larger work by the same name, but in this case, I playfully invented the background into a dark comic style night time scene. The loose brushwork gives it a dynamic feel.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Michael Shumiatcher works primarily in oils, sculpture, video, and sound, drawing on decades of practice and training under influential mentors and institutions. His style weaves together the immediacy of American Realism, the urban grit of the Ashcan School, and the formal restraint of Minimalism, balancing simplified forms with detailed depictions of fleeting moments. Through his art, he evokes a deep sense of contemplation, inviting viewers to reflect on the richness and complexity of everyday existence.
