About this artwork
These are four oil on gessoed paper studies for the painting Yonge Street Circa 1970 (see the completed painting in Every Day Life series on my Singulart Page). They were quickly executed, gestural and dynamic, possessing a quality that could not be captured in a carefully finished work. These same elements give them a uniqueness that is both intriguing and exciting. The four are for sale as a set.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Michael Shumiatcher works primarily in oils, sculpture, video, and sound, drawing on decades of practice and training under influential mentors and institutions. His style weaves together the immediacy of American Realism, the urban grit of the Ashcan School, and the formal restraint of Minimalism, balancing simplified forms with detailed depictions of fleeting moments. Through his art, he evokes a deep sense of contemplation, inviting viewers to reflect on the richness and complexity of everyday existence.
