About this artwork
"The One Who Waits" is part of my series Animals That Look at Us, a collection born from the desire to give presence to those who often remain silent.
In this work, the crocodile represents the strength of patience and conscious stillness.
Her gaze does not seek to impose itself, but to remind us that, sometimes, true strength lies in knowing how to wait.
More than portraying an animal, I wanted to capture a presence that invites you to stop,… observe and connect with what is essential.

Credentials

I don't paint to fill walls. I paint to create connections.
The sea, women, and animals are my language for giving shape to emotions that often cannot find words.
In each work I explore the strength, calm, vulnerability and beauty of that which unites us as human beings.
I believe in an art that goes beyond decoration: an art that transforms a space, invites you to stop and remains in the life of whoever decides to make it their own.
I am Natalia Avondet, a Uruguayan artist based in Spain.
My work stems from observation, emotion, and the need to transform what I feel into images that can connect with others.
Each painting is an invitation to look, feel, and find something of oneself in it.
