About this artwork
I painted this piece on a day when the sea finally revealed its true nature. The sky darkened, the wind rose, and the waves began to play with the shore as if warning of an approaching storm. I stood on the sand, watching two boats — faithful companions of many fishing days — resting at the water’s edge. They looked weary, yet proud, ready to face the elements once more.
I wanted to capture not so much the landscape itself as the feeling of anticipation… — that tense moment when the air is drawn tight like a string and even the sea seems to hold its breath. That’s why the brushstrokes here are rough and energetic, the paint laid on thick, as if nature itself burst onto the canvas.
