About this artwork
When I painted this piece, I wasn’t just looking at a street — I was looking at a whole world. A small corner of Cudillero, where every stone in the pavement breathes with sea wind and sunlight. The sky that day was especially vivid — deep, almost glowing, as if inviting me to climb those winding stairs toward something unknown.
I didn’t aim to capture architectural accuracy, but rather the movement of light, shadow, and color — the living pulse… of the village. The sun played across the walls of the houses, tinting them with ochre, terracotta, and lavender. Bold, textured strokes create a sense of motion — as if the streets themselves are guiding you forward.
Cudillero isn’t just a fishing village in northern Spain. To me, it’s a place where the soul finds harmony. Every turn of the staircase, every flower pot by a doorway seems to whisper its own story.
