About this artwork
In The Hidden Cats of the White City – A Miniature I continue my research on the “La Città di Sasso” series, working on a balance between matter, light and formal synthesis.
The city emerges through layers of acrylic and gesso applied with a palette knife, with warm tones ranging from ochre, yellow, and white, contrasted by an airier, more vibrant sky. The black lines define the architecture and create a visual rhythm of solids and voids, while… the surface alternates between more textured areas and lighter transitions.
Within the composition, I've hidden a few small presences: silent figures nestled among the houses, almost imperceptible at first glance. Their number is tied to the canvas's size, transforming its scale into part of the work's language.
This work invites slow and careful observation, where the city does not reveal itself immediately, but allows itself to be discovered over time.

I'm a self-taught painter, and what sets me apart is my free and instinctive use of color, which in my work is layered to create dense textures and crowded urban landscapes. I began with more spontaneous and light-hearted works, then evolved towards a more conscious and critical approach. At the same time, I explore abstraction with works inspired by Pollock and Rothko. My Cities are born from abstract foundations. The City as a complex organism that reflects the contradictions of our time. My series explore three great fragilities: the vulnerability of cities to climate change, the wounds inflicted by man through wars and manipulated ideologies, and the inequalities between glittering centers and forgotten peripheries. I paint universal, non-geographic cities as a metaphor for the human condition: places that bear the hopes, scars, and tensions of our time.
