The Room
The Room presents a figure suspended between memory and representation, בתוך a tense pictorial space where color acts as emotional atmosphere. The intense red dress contrasts with the unstable architecture of gestures, veils, and brushstrokes surrounding the figure, creating a scene that feels both intimate and theatrical. The work does not depict a specific place, but rather a state: an inner space charged with presence, displacement,… and ambiguity. Moving between figuration and abstraction, the painting constructs an image in which identity emerges and dissolves at the same time.

Roberto Gutiérrez Currás (1974, Seville, Spain) is a painter based in Marbella, represented by Galería Nítido.
She has held solo exhibitions in Spain and Mexico, including at the Ralli Museum (Marbella) and the Museum of Anthropology in Xalapa (Mexico). Her work has been presented internationally in New York, Paris, Shanghai, and Mexico City.
He has been a finalist in various painting awards, including the Juan Francés National Prize (2025) and the Almuzara Prize (2022).
Her recent work focuses on painting as a process, exploring the instability of the image through layering, transfers, and material intervention.
