About this artwork
This is a painting of moody relaxation and ease. The texture is important. It was created on wood that was prepared properly yet I allowed for a scratchy quality. Which creates a strange mood. The colors are intense and a bit moody. The location itself is dim. I painted it simply to make it not about a specific person or place, yet it is a specific person and place. I was trying to express a universal idea.
I was inspired by my partner lounging… in a chair and knew I had to paint him. I have painted him many times. I feel it has an impressionistic vibe while being a bit minimalist.
I do not usually paint on wood as of this moment. I was waiting for a special subject.
