About this artwork
This Watercolor is part of a series of works exploring the theme of interconnected processes in society. The concept of this series is based on the idea of a jigsaw puzzle game, where each piece is connected to the next, and only by assembling all the pieces do we reveal the full picture of the relationships.
This Watercolor shows the dualism of our world, where all notions or concepts can be known only through their opposites: it is impossible… to understand what is light if there is no darkness, what is good if there is no evil, what is heat if there is no cold. Who is a shepherd without a flock and what is prey without a hunter? These opposites are inextricably linked, and we cannot understand one without knowing the other.

Yaroslav Kurbanov is a painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in Italy, Russia, Czechia, Finland, the United States, Mexico, China, and the Netherlands. His art attempts to answer the eternal questions of the origins of self, the meaning of one's life, and the essence of happiness and love. Kurbanov's compositions also explore loyalty and betrayal, fear and composure, as well as the discrepancies between the inner world and the external image.
