German artist Darko Caramello Nikolic, born 1979 in Göttingen, lives and works in Hamburg. Before he devoted himself to fine arts, he worked as a graphic artist, animator and street artist. In addition to his paintings, he takes on installations and object art in public spaces.
Inspiration by the Unexpected
Disregarding the common, discovering new things - Darko Caramello Nikolic draws his inspiration from the unexpected and is influenced by patterns and structures of all kinds at any location. The artist likes to devote himself to philosophical matters and questions the actuality and reality of existing spaces and everyday worlds and their relationships to one another. The viewer is invited to re-examine and question the old and familiar, and thus breaks with limited imagination worlds.
Darko Caramello Nikolic works conceptually and his works are consistently of an abstract character. In the creative process of his works, the artist largely renounces the use of natural ductus. By using organic shapes and a complexity of patterns, his works manage to make colors, shapes and surfaces palpable.
Artistic Tracks throughout Germany
His vita includes numerous exhibition rooms and galleries throughout Germany. He enjoys presence at numerous national art fairs (Artfair Cologne, Art Muc etc.) and regularly participates in international art festivals. As an urban installation artist, he has already used numerous German buildings and squares as a projection screen for his art - most recently seen at the Hannoveraner Bahnhof with "Abweg" (2017).
