« I am fascinated by light and transparency. My pictures shine from the depths. »
German artist Lucia Maria Kaiser, born 1963 in Dohna, lives and works in Dresden and Cologne. She studied painting at the Alanus University Bonn between 1999 and 2003. In addition to her paintings, Lucia Maria Kaiser also designs church windows, glass objects and spatial concepts for private and public clients.
She makes pictures illuminate
Lucia Maria Kaiser finds inspiration in dealing with lighting moods. She transforms them into abstract landscapes and color spaces. Kaiser's use of colors lets her pictures shine from within. This touching effect of her pictures follows the tradition of Mark Rothko or, if it were to be translated into music, Arvo Pärt.Lire la suite
Transparency by means of matter
The contradiction could not be greater: Achieving transparency by means of matter. Yet, that's exactly what Lucia Maria Kaiser does. By overlaying transparent layers of color, Lucia Maria Kaiser achieves velvety transitions. The result is a luminosity that resembles pulsating motion, that can be felt by the observer and thus unfolds its mysterious effect.
Since completing her studies, Lucia Maria Kaiser has regularly exhibited at various institutions. These include, for example, the Cultural Center in Dakar in 2004, the Ve Dvore Gallery in the Czech Republic in 2008, the National Museum in Nairobi in 2011, the Helios Gallery in Romania in 2012 and the Kulturbunker in Cologne in 2016.Masquer
