Dami Kim is an international artist who is currently living and working between Seoul, Korea and London, UK. She spent 10 years working and studying in London and studied Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art, graduating in 2013. She creates dynamic and gestural semi-abstract paintings that explore the vitality of nature.
Dami Kim’s work expresses her emotional response to the natural world by depicting vibrantly coloured natural phenomena. Although her work is figurative, her style is almost abstract as she explores her subjects with expressive swirling lines and various textures that create an intense sensory experience.
Dami Kim’s work is based primarily on photographs; she works from them since they capture objects and surroundings in a way that remains faithful to our observations. She reinterprets the photographic source into abstract canvases that become subjective and explore her feelings towards nature and contemporary society.
