About this artwork
Miss Emilie stands upright, facing the camera, almost proud—yet vulnerable. Her figure is deliberately exaggerated: broad shoulders, slender legs, a body poised between dress and armor. She wears a pink dress that appears both soft and protective.
The work belongs to the "Being Different" series and addresses identity, self-assertion, and the right to not fit in. It represents people who have learned not to hide their difference, but to wear it—visibly… and with dignity.
Celine O`Neil is a contemporary artist working primarily with acrylic painting. Before dedicating herself fully to visual art, she worked as an actress and theater director, a background that continues to shape her artistic language today. Her paintings are driven by storytelling. Through bold colors, simplified forms and a deliberately naive visual vocabulary, she creates scenes that explore identity, communication, human relationships and the experience of being different. Her characters inhabit worlds that balance childlike imagination with the complexes of adult life. Living and working between Ibiza, London and Berlin. O`Neil draws inspiration from everyday encounters, social observation and emotional narratives. Her works invite viewers into poetic spaces where humour, vulnerability, freedom and fantasy coexist. Each painting functions as a stage on which personal and collective stories unfold, encouraging dialogue and reflection.
