About this artwork
This work incorporates the items used in a painting done some years brfore as well as a collged photo of the earlier painting in the background. The idea was contrast the newer work (drawing, color, shape, etc.) with the older painting. The artist's work often incorporates such "non-painterly" concepts into his wor. One eample is the naming of one series after the movie "Clockwork Orange" and the incorporatiion of two orange circles in all the paintings.

He declines conceptual art, stating that he is a painter, not a philosopher or propagandist. Instead, Hamilton's artistic practice is informed by the arrangement of shapes, as suggested in nature or his immediate physical environment, in the most instinctively pleasing manner he can. His process begins with line drawing in pencil or ink and is finished with oils and pastels.
