Can you introduce yourself?

Hello, I’m Jenny from Germany. I live in the city of Cologne, with my boyfriend and our baby girl. I work as a creative buyer for a jewelry company and I am also a content creator focusing on interior design. I have a background in fashion design management, and I have always aspired to work in a creative field. Both my job and my online content allow me to express my passion for design and aesthetics everyday.

What led you to start creating content?

It all began during the COVID pandemic. We had just moved into our apartment, right before the lockdown in Germany, so we had a lot of time to thoughtfully furnish our space. Our building dates back to the 1800s and I love the original details–the wooden floors, large windows, and ornate ceilings. The apartment has such a rich history, which reflects my own passion for collecting vintage pieces with a story, and giving them a second life. I initially created my Instagram account to post pictures of our progress and share my enthusiasm for interiors with friends. I never expected to gain so many followers, but I am so happy to have created a community of inspiring, like-minded people.

How have you developed your personal style preferences?

My style is always evolving since I’m a collector at heart, so our home is constantly changing. It’s defined by a mix of vintage finds, personal items, travel souvenirs, and art. I don’t stick to a specific color scheme, though I’ve organically collected many blue items over time. I love experimenting with different materials such as glass, wood, and metal, as well as blending periods such as mid-century, space age and traditional. Developing a personal style takes time. It’s about progressively collecting pieces and playing around with different styles, colors and textures, to gradually refine your own individual taste.

What role does art play in your life?

Art plays a major role in my life. I love to browse through art books. Some of my favorite artists, Børge Mogensen, Gae Aulenti and Alvar Aalto, also inspire my interior design. I collect pieces that speak to me and bring stories to my space. I always enjoy visiting friends, seeing their art collections, and hearing the stories and memories behind each piece. It’s those connections that truly make a space feel like home.

Any advice for those new to buying art?

Don´t think about it too much, if it touches you in some way, it’s right. Don´t think about whether it matches your interior, because it should stand on its own.
