What is your newest series?
My newest series is called “Nature”.
What was or is the inspiration or concept behind this new series or exhibition?
Nature is the foundation for our lives and mental health. I wanted to bring the hidden birds and bugs into the homes and the attention of my viewers. The abstract strokes are inspired by the organic shapes of nature.
What’s the message behind your new series or exhibition?
My message is to be mindful of nature. A fly or a beetle is normally an unwanted bug, but I make it into art, so we can celebrate its beauty and right to be here.
What’s your personal highlight of the series or latest exhibition?
In my latest exhibition, there was a tendency. I noticed the audience exploring each image from a distance, and as they came closer, they discovered new animals hidden in the paint. I love watching my audience go, “Oh, there’s a fly on that splash, I didn’t see it at first!”
Moreover, is there a particular piece in the series that you’re most fond of? Why?
I think “Meeting an Old Friend” captures both the abstract chaos and the calm background, along with the hidden bugs.
If you encountered any challenges during the creation of this series, how did you manage to tackle and overcome them?
I tried to challenge myself to experiment with new colors and compositions. Even though it can be tempting to just repeat what sold well.
How would you recommend a visitor to experience your creation?
Zoom in and find the hidden bugs. Embrace the chaos and the calm.
What’s next for you? Are you already working on a new series or project?
Next, I have started experimenting with including the frame as part of the artwork. It’s still within the Nature series but brings a new creative touch.
