What role does art play in your own life?
Art is an amazing discipline, it is an expressive world, of feeling and perceiving the environment. Personally, I am always creating in one way or another, often just with my imagination. It is a way of escape, of transmitting emotions and feelings, although some may be personal. To immerse yourself in abstract art, you have to break with the concept of what is seen as “real”, making way for pure language.
Creating the perfect atmosphere for emotions and instinct, which will be unique and individual. Individuality will be the only protagonist of the interpretation, where common sense and rules give way to intuition and emotions, freedom has no limits.
How do you decide which art to buy for yourself?
It must be inspiring, it must make me think beyond what it conveys at first glance. It must have harmony, it must be sensitive.
Now, what kind of art do you own and why?
I like everything related to minimalism, I don’t own art of great value.
Which artist would you love to invest in most?
There are many, I couldn’t choose just one.
What is the artwork you’d like to own?
Untitled (328) by Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013, China) Zao Wou-Ki.
If you could give five tips to someone buying art, or building a collection for the first time, what would they be?
Abstract art is inspiring in itself, unique and unrepeatable. As I mentioned before, individuality will be the only protagonist. First of all, there must be a connection between the canvas and the individual. Harmony is also a fundamental part in the choice of the work, as well as the execution of the piece must be important when choosing a work.
What is most important to you when selecting a piece of art?
The execution of the work as well as the handling of the techniques are fundamental parts when choosing a piece. It must have a narrative; beyond the individuality of the interpretation, the work itself has to tell something, it has to have a common thread, a compositional structure.
Talk us through some artistic trends in the art world you appreciate right now?
There is freedom in creativity today. There are no role models, which is good for art, allowing the creative individual to experiment with materials and themes, making art an infinite universe.
