The mingling of both painting and photographic techniques illustrated in the production of Ayyad Ayyad offers a gustative teaser of all things modern. These are the abstract and the figurative representations of modern life. These are Amman cityscapes and Portland, Oregon cityscapes done in acrylics and mixed media on canvas. Symbolic motifs are the reuse of argued domes and staircases, stories intersect across borders and through time as dominants are drawn in. All the pieces guide the viewer to accompany it on a journey through life and hence, growth, selfism, and symbiosis.
The ‘City Skyline’ series really deserves its spot at the very top of art enthusiasts’ wish lists To learn more about the art piece and the inspiration behind it, we reached out to Ayyad Ayyad for an exclusive interview with Singulart.
What is your newest series?
City Skyline.
What was or is the inspiration or concept behind this new series?
The artwork’s lines of domes and staircases inspire dialogue that transcends borders and eras, taking viewers on a poignant exploration of life’s diverse paths.
What’s the message behind your new series?
My new series of paintings revolves around the universal themes of life’s journey, growth, and possibilities. The use of domes and staircases as motifs symbolizes progress, upward movement, and the interconnectedness of different experiences and time periods. The idea of crossing boundaries refers to the theme of unity and shared experiences. Meanwhile, the exploration of diverse paths speaks to the individuality and uniqueness of each person’s life journey. Overall, I seek in these paintings to invite viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of past, present, and future. Furthermore, how our shared experiences and paths can lead to meaningful dialogue.
What’s your personal highlight of the series?
The diverse paths within the artwork evoke a sense of wonder and contemplation of the shared experiences that unite us. My paintings represent a vision of the profound and meaningful dialogues that can arise from contemplating past, present, and future connections.
Moreover, is there a particular piece in the series that you’re most fond of? Why?
“Skyline and the Dusk.” In this artwork, I’ve employed vivid acrylic strokes to convey the lively essence of an abstract cityscape at dusk. The striking colors set against a softer background illustrate the shift from day to night, symbolizing renewal and the infinite possibilities that each evening brings. My aim is to infuse any space with a burst of energy and a hint of mystery through this painting.
If you encountered any challenges during the creation of this series, how did you tackle and overcome them?
Balancing my artistic vision with the practical aspects of painting required a great deal of flexibility. I overcame this by staying adaptable, seeking feedback from peers, and being open to making adjustments as needed.
How would you recommend a visitor to experience your creation?
See each painting as a window into the past, a celebration of artistic traditions, and a bridge to a more connected and understanding world.
What kind of engagement or interaction do you hope to have with your audience?
I hope to inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the cultural heritage depicted in my work. By bridging different cultures and artistic traditions, I want to create a space where people from diverse backgrounds can come together, learn from each other, and celebrate our shared humanity.
What’s next for you? Are you already working on a new series or project?
I am in the process of outlining a new painting theme that reflects everyday life.
