Getting Gallery Ready with Singulart and the VAA

Getting Gallery Ready with Singulart and the VAA

For many artists, finding the right gallery is as much about timing and alignment as it is about talent. A gallery can be more than just a space to exhibit your work – it can become a long-term partner, an advocate, and a bridge to collectors and curators you might never reach on your own.

That’s why Singulart is proud to partner with the Visual Artists Association (VAA), an organisation dedicated to giving artists the knowledge, tools, and connections they need to navigate today’s art world with confidence. Together, we’re working towards the same goal: helping artists identify, approach, and collaborate with galleries that truly fit their vision.

Why finding the right gallery matters

A successful gallery relationship is about more than representation. It’s about shared values, compatible audiences, and mutual growth. Choosing the wrong fit can slow momentum, but choosing the right one can open doors to new markets, career-defining exhibitions, and invaluable networks. The challenge? Knowing where to start.

How Singulart supports your journey

At Singulart, we’ve developed tools to help artists showcase their work to a global audience and engage meaningfully with the art ecosystem. The new Gallery Connect feature is designed to help artists reach and connect with physical art galleries worldwide.

Singulart’s Gallery Feedback Programme offers artists constructive, tailored reviews from leading curators, gallerists, and art market experts. These insights can be invaluable in refining your portfolio, understanding market expectations, and positioning your work for success.

How the VAA helps you get gallery ready

This September, the VAA launches its Getting Gallery Ready course: a four-part online programme designed to remove the uncertainty around securing gallery representation: you will learn how the art market operates, what galleries are really looking for, and how to present yourself as an artist they want to work with. Led by industry experts, including art critic and curator Tabish Khan and artist mentor Karen van Hoey Smith, the course covers everything from building a stand-out portfolio to understanding contracts and negotiations.

Two live sessions (2 and 9 September) are complemented by on-demand content, a comprehensive guide, and downloadable resources, ensuring you can revisit the material whenever you need.

Other Opportunities with the VAA

Beyond the Getting Gallery Ready course, the VAA offers a range of programmes and events designed to help artists grow their networks and professional presence. These include a Mentorship Programme, themed events bringing together gallerists, curators, and art market professionals for candid discussions and networking; as well as OpenSpaces, a feature giving artists the chance to approach potential exhibition spaces and partner with venues that are actively looking for artists.

Singulart artists enjoy an exclusive 30% discount on VAA membership plans, which includes access to the Getting Gallery Ready course as well as other benefits such as artist insurance (up to £5 million), a supportive global network, expert-led events and training, one-to-one advice and mentoring, and a wealth of professional resources.
