Can you introduce yourself, your background, and what you do for a living?
I am a digital marketer by profession, an art enthusiast, and decorator by passion. I was born and raised in Córdoba, Veracruz, which is a small city in the south of Mexico. I’m currently a full-time content creator on social media, based in Downtown Los Angeles. My content focuses mainly on home decor, art and traveling.
Tell us about your upbringing in art/design.
I had a vibrant childhood as the youngest in a large family. The first 19 years of my life were spent surrounded by Mexico’s rich culture, colors, and natural landscapes. This honed my senses in ways that I especially appreciate today as an adult living in the United States. I now proudly acknowledge how much my upbringing in Mexico has significantly shaped my approach to art, design, and life as a whole.

What sparked your initial interest in art?
In 6th grade, I was introduced to the great Mexican muralists: José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Their art struck me as both poetic and monumental, captivating me with its expressive power. Discovering that many of their murals were hanging just a few hours away from my house was unbelievable. I eagerly sought out and visited as many of their works as I could, a fascination that still endures today. Among all the places I’ve visited, el Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City remains my favorite spot to admire many of their masterpieces.
In what ways is art integrated into your everyday life?
As a visually-inclined individual, museums and films have always captivated me, so I try to enjoy them as often as possible. Simultaneously, I have always had an interest in beautiful interiors and architecture, so when I finally got to decorate my own spaces as an adult, I knew I wanted to incorporate art into all the rooms I worked on. I firmly believe that art is one of the best ways to add personality to any space.

Tell us about your daily routine.
Morning rituals are sacred to me. I usually wake up early and enjoy a slow morning. It’s often when I feel the most inspired to create, as natural light plays a key role in my creative process. Now that I work for myself, I no longer follow a strict 9-to-5 schedule, and I can fully immerse myself in my own creative time.
How would you describe your personal style?
I’d describe my style as expressive–playful, full of art, and culturally inspired. It is constantly evolving, yet these elements remain consistent.
What inspires your choices when curating your living space?
Curating living spaces is incredibly therapeutic for me. When it comes to my personal space, I trust my intuition rather than following rules or predefined styles. If something resonates with me and evokes emotion, that’s reason enough for me to integrate it into my surroundings. My inspiration stems from both my travels and my Mexican heritage. I feel most inspired when these two aspects are combined, which undoubtedly shows up in many of the spaces I decorate.

Do you have any artwork(s) you are particularly attached to?
I cherish two pieces dearly. One is an abstract artwork by my favorite Mexican artist, Fernanda Caballero, acquired in 2020. Connecting with Fernanda’s work over the years and then obtaining a piece has been truly special to me. The second piece is a movie poster featuring two iconic actors from the golden age of Mexican cinema, which frequently sparks curiosity in my apartment. It holds sentimental value, as my brother gifted it to me when I moved into my first downtown Los Angeles apartment.
What feeling or message do you want your living space to convey?
As I’ve matured, I’ve embraced the joy of not only creating but also relishing my living spaces to the fullest. I am a self-proclaimed homebody with an insatiable travel bug. This seemingly contradictory combination has given me a sense of balance, fueling my perpetual desire for both experiences. When I’m home for an extended period, I yearn for travel, yet once I’m traveling, I eagerly anticipate returning home. It’s a continuous loop that keeps me grounded, fulfilled and creative.

Do you have any exciting upcoming projects?
I’m currently working on a project in Mexico City which will combine many of the elements I am passionate about. While I’m not fixated on acquiring a specific piece of art at the moment, the prospect of discovering and engaging with emerging artists excites me the most. It’s about continuing to explore and learn, which fuels my passion. I cannot wait to share more once the launch date approaches…and once it’s out, people will be able to come and experience the space!
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their journey as an art collector?
Be intuitive and intentional about your choices. At the end of the day, art is subjective, so it’s important to follow what resonates with you rather than worrying about others’ opinions. Also, keep in mind that you’ll encounter the pieces you choose repeatedly, so select something that will always bring you joy and that you won’t get tired of over time.
