Olga Kaminskaya: An Artistic Journey Influenced by Spirituality, Nature and Inner Experiences

Olga Kaminskaya is a professional artist with over 13 years of experience in painting. Her childhood and youth were spent in the Far East of Russia. Over the past few years, has lived in Turkey and Georgia, where she is now based in the picturesque foothills of the Caucasus Mountains and the Alazani Valley. Starting with education in Art and Design, Olga Kaminskaya has immersed herself in the world of contemporary art, with her works now held in private collections around the world.

Olga is known for her deep, emotional series of paintings that explore themes of spiritual and emotional struggles, as well as personal challenges. She is currently actively developing her personal brand and aspires to reach a global audience as an artist capable of conveying reflections on life’s complex trials, the search for meaning, and spiritual stability.

Describe a typical working day:

When I wake up, I dedicate the first hour to silence and restoring my inner harmony. This is a time for reflection, meditation, or simply enjoying the nature around me — after all, I live in a picturesque place where the morning light of the Caucasus Mountains fills me with inspiration.

After that, I have a cup of coffee and begin my work. My studio is a space where I feel completely free. Depending on my mood or the current project, I either start the day with sketches or go straight to the canvas. I always have several projects in progress, so I alternate between large canvases and smaller paintings or experiment with different techniques.

Between painting sessions, I take breaks. During these moments, I enjoy walking in the fresh air or doing something simple to let my mind rest and regain focus.

By the evening, I immerse myself in creativity again, finishing what I started, but I try not to stay up too late. The day ends with analyzing the work I’ve done, planning the next steps, and preparing for a new day full of creative discoveries.

Do you have a favorite space for creating your artworks?

My favorite place to create art is a corner on the first floor next to large windows. I love when natural light fills the space, creating an inspiring atmosphere for creativity. In the future, I plan to open a spacious studio on the second floor with access to a terrace that offers a view of the mountains.

How does an ideal day of creating look like?

The perfect day is one of total immersion in creativity, where time loses its meaning. I work, alternating details and large forms, allowing the painting to develop organically, occasionally stopping to observe the result from afar, and making adjustments.

Describe your style of art in a sentence:

My artistic style is characterized by emotional depth and expressiveness, reflecting inner experiences and spiritual quests, conveyed through layered textures and dynamic brushstrokes.

Who and what inspired you to be an artist?

I was inspired to become an artist by my own life journey and inner experiences. The turning point was overcoming cancer, which made me rethink my purpose. In my dreams, the desire to paint came to me, and this became the starting point of my creative path.

Name three inspirations for your work right now

Three sources of inspiration for my work right now are the nature around me, especially the majestic Caucasus Mountains, spiritual quests and experiences, and my inner emotional states, which I try to express through my paintings.

Is there a particular color palette that you prefer to work with, and what inspires your choice?

I don’t limit myself to a specific color palette, but I often use deep, rich tones that reflect my emotions and inner experiences. The choice of colors is usually guided by my mood and the theme of the painting. Nature, especially the mountains and the sky, often inspires me to create contrasting color combinations that convey spiritual depth and strength.

Tell an interesting story behind a piece you’ve created…

One of my works that evokes special emotions is the painting “Struggle and Rebirth” from the “Tree” series. This work was born from a deep inner search and the desire to reflect the inseparable connection between a person and their ancestry. In the image of a tree, I conveyed the idea that life’s trials, both spiritual and emotional, can harden a person, making them strong and resilient like a tree, but at the same time capable of growth and renewal.

The idea for the painting came to me after a difficult period in my life when I felt torn between my emotions and external circumstances. During the process of creation, I realized that, just as a tree continues to grow despite storms, a person can find strength within themselves, moving forward even when everything around seems to be falling apart. This painting became a symbol of rebirth and inner strength that a person finds in the challenging moments of life.

.

.. and one interesting piece you own. Why did you buy it?

One of the things I truly love is fresh flowers. I am a big fan of flowers, and they play an important role in both my home and studio. I buy them because they inspire me, bringing a sense of life and beauty around me. Flowers remind me of the continuous cycle of nature — growth, blooming, and renewal, which is closely connected to my creative process.

We imagine that inspiration could strike anytime. How do you separate work from free time?

I keep the idea within me until it fully takes over my consciousness. Once that happens, nothing can stop me from creating the painting.

What reforms would you like to see in the art world?

The reform I would like to see in the art world is greater emphasis on education. I believe that educating both artists and the general public about the deeper meaning behind art, its history, and its various forms can elevate appreciation for it. Art should not just be seen as decoration but as a profound reflection of human experience, and educating people about this could foster a deeper connection between the audience and the artist’s work.

How do you think we could change it together?

I believe we could start by creating educational programs and initiatives that make art more accessible and understandable to a wider audience. This could include exhibitions with interactive elements, lectures, and workshops where people can dive deeper into the meaning of the artworks. Artists can also share their creative processes through social media, telling the stories behind their works, thus creating a closer connection with the audience. It’s important to raise awareness that art is not just a picture on the wall, but a powerful tool for reflection and change.
