A curation by Raffaella Nobili, Owner and curator at Paraventi Giapponesi - The third and final installment in a trilogy about escaping reality and its fragmentation, Nocturnal Animals takes on crepuscular tones in which a sense of unease subtly emerges. This unease arises from an imperceptible shift in the everyday, which transforms from familiar to unfamiliar. Small details diverge from the known, alerting the senses. From this ambiguity that both attracts and repels, the uncanny arises, giving rise to the aesthetics of disorientation. After the pastel-colored dreams of Lucid Dream and the digital distortions of Glitched Realities, the works selected for this occasion evoke suspended and sinister environments, like a Lynchian short film, in which the dark and theatrical atmosphere of the settings is merely a projection of the characters' unconscious. Everything is familiar, yet everything is alienating.
