Unordinary Objects - curated by Natalie Slater

A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - ‘Unordinary Objects’ brings together a series of black-and-white photographic works that treat everyday things as sites of quiet disruption. A teacup fractures, a grater rests where it doesn’t belong, a household tool becomes unrecognizable at close range. These images do not dramatize their subjects. Instead, they allow small shifts in scale, placement, or context to do the work. What is familiar becomes slightly unstable. What should be obvious resists immediate identification. Across the curation, ordinary objects are photographed with care and restraint, stripped of narrative but not of tension. The result is a collection that asks little of the viewer beyond attention—looking long enough to notice that something, however subtle, is off.
