Anatoliy Anshin lleva más de 20 años viviendo en Japón. Obtuvo su doctorado en historia japonesa premoderna y publicó varios artículos académicos y una monografía sobre el tema. También se convirtió en profesor de esgrima japonesa, kendo. En su etapa adulta, se dedicó a retratar la naturaleza y los lugares históricos de Japón mediante la fotografía artística.
La fotografía de Anshin no se centra en los estereotipos exóticos, ni se limita a capturar lo japonés, por muy hermoso que parezca. Su objetivo es visualizar y reconectar con la espiritualidad de la cultura ancestral que, aunque a menudo falta en la vida cotidiana moderna, sigue siendo accesible si mantenemos la mente y el corazón abiertos.
