Lawrence Philip es un experimentado pintor estadounidense que ha exhibido constantemente su obra en los Estados Unidos desde los años 70. Trabajando de manera no representativa, acoda sus pinturas con elementos dispares y dota a cada superficie con una calidad táctil y texturizada. Después de haber trabajado mucho con el cartón y el ensamblaje, desarrolla cuerpos de trabajo que se ocupan de la forma, el color, las capas, los elementos en relieve recortados y el collage.
