Herman Van Synghel, een ervaren graficus met een achtergrond in grafisch ontwerp en ruime ervaring in het onderwijs, gebruikt etsen, zeefdruk en linosnede als zijn voornaamste technieken. Zijn werken ontvouwen zich door middel van een rigoureus, minimalistisch vocabulaire, waarbij geometrische vormen – cirkels, vierkanten, zwarte vlakken – centraal staan. Deze vormen worden met een conceptuele precisie onderzocht die de delicate spanning tussen structuur en intuïtie op de proef stelt. Door middel van symbolische reductie en poëtische beeldspraak roept hij diepgaande meditaties op over geheugen, tijd en de dualiteiten van het bestaan, en nodigt hij de kijker uit tot een staat van aanwezigheid en contemplatie in plaats van onmiddellijke interpretatie.
