De Amerikaanse schilder, textielkunstenaar en beeldhouwer Justine Johnson heeft werk tentoongesteld in de VS, het VK, Frankrijk en Letland. Johnson maakt haar eigen niet-giftige indigo-fermentatievaten en vouwt vervolgens Japans papier in verschillende vormen voordat hij het meerdere keren in de vaten doopt. Johnson gebruikt vervolgens 24-karaats bladgoud om de natuurlijke tranen te herstellen die tijdens dit arbeidsintensieve proces verschijnen. Johnson's indigo- en goudstukken hebben een kleurdiepte en intensiteit van emotie die hun krachtige creatieproces weerspiegelen.
