This article will explore “Chasing the Tides” the latest series by artist Alisya Vicol. In this series, her Impressionistic landscapes and seascapes, come to life with watercolors and oils, inviting viewers into her vibrant world.
What is your newest series?
My newest series that I’m working on, is “Chasing the Tides.”
What was or is the inspiration or concept behind this new series?
My new series, “Chasing the Tides,” draws inspiration from my recent experiences at the Balearic Sea and the Lake District. These contrasting water landscapes sparked a creative exploration of how water, light, and time interplay in nature.
The concept of “Chasing the Tides” emerged from observing the changing nature of these environments. I aim to capture fleeting moments of light on water and preserve the emotional essence of these landscapes.
This series also explores the duality of water environments – the vast, open sea versus enclosed, mirror-like lakes and mountains. This contrast serves as a metaphor for the varied emotions of summertime.
Each piece in “Chasing the Tides” is infused with sensory experiences. Ultimately, this series is my artistic exploration of how water seascape shapes our perceptions, memories, and emotions.
What’s the message behind your new series?
The message behind my new series “Chasing the Tides” is the emotional and deep connection to nature that we all have. Preservation of Memory; I’m also addressing our desire to hold onto meaningful moments. The paintings serve as a form of memory preservation, freezing instants that would otherwise be lost to time, a moment to reflect, and reconnect with the natural world and our place within it, particularly through the lens of summer seascape.
How would you recommend a visitor to experience your creation?
My art captures nature’s ephemeral beauty, especially during transitional periods. I aim to convey my deep connection with the outdoors, translating observations and memories into emotional stories of paintings that invite viewers to experience the fleeting moments of the natural world through my eyes.
What’s your personal highlight of the series?
My personal highlight of the “Chasing the Tides” series is the artistic breakthrough I experienced. While creating this collection, I achieved a long-standing goal: capturing not just the visual essence of seascapes, but also their emotional resonance. I truly conveyed the peace, anticipation, and awe of witnessing nature’s daily rebirth. This series represents a pivotal moment in my artistic journey, where I finally translated onto canvas the deep, complex feelings these seascape series evoke.
What kind of engagement or interaction do you hope to have with your audience?
With my “Chasing the Tides” series, I hope to create a deep and multifaceted engagement with my audience:
Emotional Resonance: First and foremost, I want viewers to feel the emotions captured in each piece – the peace, anticipation, and awe of seascape.
Personal Reflection: I hope my paintings prompt viewers to reflect on their own experiences with nature, particularly seascapes and lakeshores.
Appreciation of Transience: Through these unique moments, I aim to encourage audiences to appreciate the fleeting beauty. Ultimately, I want my audience to not just view the paintings, but to experience them – to be transported to these moments, forging their own emotional connections with the scenes depicted.

What’s next for you? Are you already working on a new series or project?
I have in mind to explore the animals world, as a next step, I’ve got some ideas for that, but this will be for the future as a next project.
